As the official hub for the Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan Am Games, Ontario’s Celebration Zone at Harbourfront Centre was used as a temporary site open to visitors to experience programming featuring Ontario artists, interactive exhibits, and culinary demonstrations.
Located in Chicago, First Ascent brings world class rock climbing to the community. The 25,000 sf. facility offers guests an escape from the flat Midwest plains with climbs up to 55 ft. in height. Upon entering the reception area, guests are immediately engaged with an artistic interpretation of a terrain well known to the climbing community; the Red River Gorge in Kentucky.
Lodz Tram Station Project was designed and executed based on an architectural competition held on May 2012. 3000m2 of the colorful roof covers four tram platforms consisting of a white granite. 54 bended steel columns support the slightly sloped ETFE roof and curved ETFE facades protect tram users from all weather conditions.
The structure is maximized on the spans and actually working in tension and suspension. Access to the structure was very limited which made it quite a challenge. But clearly the daylighting and up lighting at night set this tensioned fabric structure apart from other shopping centers who use only conventional materials.
The Tarxien Temples were built between 3600 – 2500 BC and the ancient structures are considered part of Malta’s cultural heritage. The megalithic temples needed a protective shelter against natural erosion (rain, water, dust).
