Please describe the project specifications.
Fly bridge Rigid Enclosure Redesign – This project was created using Sunbrella Tresco Linen fabric, with Makrolon UV rigid Polycarbonate and .040 Strataglass windows for the flybridge enclosure and the aft sun enclosure.
What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?
This project was to redesign and improve canvas on an older trawler. The clients had just purchased the boat and found several challenges with the functionality of the old framework and enclosure. They requested a more modern, streamlined look with better accessibility from the lower deck space to the upper deck and a larger forward viewing window. Additionally they asked for a place to mount solar panels.
What is unique or complex about the project?
This project required modification to the forward frames and adding framework aft of the arch to accommodate a sun visor to open the aft area of the cockpit and allow better access through the companionway between the decks. We also tracked the entire enclosure with Costa Track to create a clean look from the outside and aid in functionality from the inside.
What were the results of the project?
The customers were ecstatic with the final design and product. They no longer need to open an enclosure panel to get to the fly bridge and were able to stay dry with the companionway open or closed. The new canvas provided them with a beautiful design that better complimented the boat and greater functionality.
