Please describe the project specifications

Our company designed, manufactured, and installed two commercial, retractable awnings. One awning was 8 feet wide with a 5 foot projection, and the other awning was 10 feet, 8 inches wide with an 8 foot, 6 inch projection. Both awnings were designed to be manually operated. Each frame is dark brown. The fabrics used were Sunbrella 4830-0000 Balance Ember. We used semi-cassettes to protect the fabrics from the harsh, beach environment.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The client requested a simple, durable, and visually pleasing, overhead shade solution. The client needed a way to not only provide an inviting ambience, but also distinguish his shop from the multitude of other shops, located on the boardwalk.

What is unique or complex about the project?

It was a challenge to both match and contrast the colors of the building and nearby surroundings. The clients goal was to not only blend in, but also command the attention of passersby.

What were the results of the project?

The client was so happy with the fabric we helped select. The fabric complemented the gray trim on his building, a bit of the blue ocean, and the reddish orange of a nearby fence and flower pot. A bright, red-orange valance trim provided a wonderful contrast to the fabric and frame.
