What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The purpose was to create a Covered Terrace in an Office Park for eating lunch, hosting events and general enjoyment of the Outdoors. The Client wanted an unique structure that was in line with their corporate branding in the cruising industry. They wanted to create a special area for employees to gather and take a pause from their busy work days.

What is unique or complex about the project?

The cantilevered structure arms, welded on site, and braced with guy wires is a unique design to hold the large tension sail loads. Designed by architect Michael Harris of RTKL, this project shows there is another way to eliminate columns with tension sail projects! In addition the top sails cover the gaps in the lower sails providing complete sun protection.

What were the results of the project?

Results are a lovely and pleasant gathering place for employees of this large office park.
