Please describe the project specifications

The purpose of this project was to develop a 1,750 square foot Sales Center at the site of the future Edge on Brickell high rise in downtown Miami.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

Our client tasked us with producing a high-end structure that would be the foundation of the upscale experience they wanted to create for prospective condo buyers. The structure’s framework allowed for an interior build-out that matched build-outs for client’s previously permanently installed sales centers. Roof treatments and fixtures, along with glass and hard wall cladding, and modular flooring and decking created an environment cognizant of the goals set forth by our client.

What is unique or complex about the project?

The custom structure included white tensioned fabric roof panels supported by an aluminum and steel hybrid frame that was secured using helical augers and concrete weights. Guttering and downspout systems were deployed throughout the structure to properly seal the interior. Engineered custom modular temporary glass and insulated hard wall systems encompassed the enclosure of the structure. The effectiveness of this insulation was essential in order to minimize energy waste.

The structure was designed to exceed the Miami-Dade building codes, which due to being in a hurricane zone, is one of the strictest in the nation. Because the client required the structure to be erected for a two-year period, many code requirements for permanent buildings were applied.

A fabric exterior façade was developed to match parts of the aesthetic that would be a part of the actually building. These were attached to the inside of the systems glass utilizing industrial strength adhesives.

What were the results of the project?

The project was successfully completed and is still a staple structure on The Miami Riverfront in Brickell.
