Please describe the project specifications

The facade of the SGM pavilion is a sculptural double curved geometry through simple lightweight rain screen technology illustrated ,which have been covered by PTFE membranes is around 900m2. The height of the structure is about 20m and the span of it reaches 60m. The structure consists of 5 membrane units of different height.


What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The project is located in Tomorrowland of Disneyland Shanghai. The design has kept with all the elements of this area, such as created, imagined future.


What is unique or complex about the project?

The novel design and unique structure gives the structure a beautiful shape. The building is segmented into 5 levels where PTFE membranes was installed. The PTFE façade is not only the appearance from outside but also details from inside can be well seen. Supported off the building up to 3M using an elegant system of structural steel work, the PTFE is attached using clamps and stretched over the steel work to provide rigidity.


What were the results of the project?

The project was finished on June, 2016, when Shanghai Disney Land opened. The facade will become another major feature of Disney.
