Please describe the project specifications

For a special event of Switzerland Tourism - the International Media Trip 2015 - party tents were placed at a very exceptional location. The event was organized for 200 international media representatives, which lingered for a week in Switzerland. Switzerland Tourism presented them the most beautiful and most remarkable regions, towns and villages in the region Romande around Lake Geneva. The highlight of this week was a gala dinner in the vineyards of Epesses near Lausanne.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

Thomas Egli, project manager of the client Switzerland Tourism, had the following idea, how this special gala dinner at the sunset has to look like: On a steep slope of the Mont de Gourze, 150 meters above the shores of Lake Geneva, a tent landscape should meander along the old vineyard trails. The tents should provide space for 50 tables, 220 chairs and the logistics of the operation as well as catering and kitchen facilities.

What is unique or complex about the project?

The scenic setting above Lake Geneva harbored some difficulties for the installation of the tents. The transportation of the material and the leveling of the ground were the biggest challenges before the tents could be erected. Since the paths are very narrow in the vineyards, a delivery with trucks was not possible. All material had to be transferred to small trailers and driven with a vineyard tractor to the place. The paths are not applied on a straight level and curvy, so a very elaborate leveling, some up to two meters, was necessary.
Three partytents with a clear span of 3 meters have been installed, two of them had a length of 42 meters (138 feet), one had a length of 39 meters (128 feet). These areas with a complete area of 369 square meters (3,972 square feet) were used as a restaurant for the gala dinner. Two other party tents, 9 meters x 9 meters and 3 meters x 9 meters, (total area: 1,160 square feet) were used as kitchen and catering facilities.

What were the results of the project?

The journalists enjoyed the culinary specialties of the region in the sunset and had thereby a fantastic view over the rows of vines on the lake and the mountains opposite. The client Switzerland Tourism, was delighted, that it was possible, thanks to a sophisticated party tent system and the right team with expertise, to present the guests a fully equipped restaurant on the exposed and romantic location. Our installation team was very proud to be able to realize such an interesting and challenging project to the satisfaction of the customer.
