Please describe the project specifications

Esfera City Center is located southeast of Monterrey NL, it’s the housing development with the largest shopping center of the city, and the first of the kind to not have an air conditioning system, which is why we were asked to make a proposal to cover 14,500 sqm for the commercial track and to generate open spaces for ventilation and lighting of the commercial areas.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

These requirements became a challenge for the field of Architecture and Engineering because in order to achieve the request a series of folding mobile elements that enable opening and closing these stunning pieces of 32 x 18 meters were designed, making it a nice attraction were designed.

What is unique or complex about the project?

The engineering for the mobile elements that can be opened and closed according to the needs of the climate.
Those elements became a show for the people on the shopping mall because the magnitude of the sails that takes 5 minutes to open or close.
1,400 tons of steel were required for its construction.

What were the results of the project?

Is the first and unique shopping center in Mexico with a roof that mechanically opens the space to get the light from the sun and to ventilate the space.
