Please describe the project specifications

This is a custom outdoor seating area for a local eatery in the heart of downtown Ft. Lauderdale.
The project is made up of a custom rigid frame to support a Corradi Impact retractable canopy.
The dimensions for the canopy are 24’-6” x 24’-0”. Eclissi fabric provides the sun and rain protection for this canopy.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The client was opening up a new location for their great bagels, but there really isn’t a lot of room for seating inside. They wanted to make use of the patio and compliment the style of the building. The adjacent patio area is the necessary area that they needed for people to enjoy breakfast or lunch. Being in South Florida, they also wanted to have the flexibility to have the outdoor area covered or open when the weather is great.

What is unique or complex about the project?

This project consists of a custom designed rigid frame supported by 6” x 6” x ¼” columns bolted to the concrete slab. (3) custom rafter trusses were fabricated to hold the Corradi Impact retractable system. A special front truss and a special beam was placed for fans, so nothing will interfere with the fabric above. The project was painted a special antique bronze to reflect and old Brooklyn look.

What were the results of the project?

The client loves the outcome of the project! They are so busy. Those working downtown stand in line to get their great food and the area under the outdoor retractable canopy provides the protection and ambience for patrons to gather for coffee, meals, snacks, or down time. This outdoor canopy project created a great outdoor seating and gathering place right in the heart of downtown Ft. Lauderdale.
