Please describe the project specifications

A Spray Dodger, Bimini and link Sheet combination that flow's and enhances the deck lines while combining the factory Targa to join them into an extra outside space out of the elements.

We have designed and installed a Spray Dodger, Bimini and Link Sheet combination that flows and enhances the deck lines while incorporating the Targa bar. Joined together, this creates an extra outside space, out of the elements.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The Yacht Share managers asked me to create an enclosed area with high visibility while sailing, (for the 10 different owner's) and to entertain there guests in an outdoor setting. This boat is used constantly and needed to be practical and very strong. Clear cockpit entrance was also a request.

What is unique or complex about the project?

The Oceanis 45 have a very high factory Targa bar and very large cockpit for a 45" yacht .
The challenge is to combine Dodger Bimini link sheet to the Targa. I base the design around moving the dodger mounting point on the deck forward by 500mm. This allows the roof to be longer than the window height and gives me flow of the Macralon clears rather than the factory square look. This also lowers the appearance of the dodger. The Bimini is also made as long as possible to lower the appearance of the enclosure.

What were the results of the project?

The Managers and Owners could not have been happier. They gained the extra space needed while remaining very practical for sailing with great sun protection.
