Please describe the project specifications

• The umbrella canopy is 15’ wide x 15’ long (225 square feet) making it four times the size of a standard umbrella.
• The eave clearance is 7’ and rises up an additional 2' in the center resulting in a center peak height of 9'
• The Umbrella canopy is tensioned with a perimeter stainless steel cable wrapped around four steel rafters and is supported by a 5” single square post.
• The canopy has a gusseted 12” x 12” base plate which is secured by 8 anchors that are bolted to a dedicated footing.
• The exposed steel components are primed and painted.
• The fabric cover is manufactured out of Commercial 95 which is a knitted lock-stitch UV stabilized high density polyethylene with a life expectancy of 10 years.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

• The client wanted us to provide a comfortable shaded environment around their pool.
• They also wanted us to effectively shade and landscape the pool area by giving it the appeal, look, and feel of a holiday resort.

What is unique or complex about the project?

• The single posted design greatly reduces the cost and enhances the aesthetic look of this product in comparison to other shade canopies and four posted sails.
• The umbrella canopy is designed with a “breathable” fabric to stay up permanently, this provides useful shade even in windy conditions.
• The umbrella canopy provides the same shade coverage as four umbrellas with the “coolness" and durability of a sail shade.
• The cantilever design of this umbrella provides an open unobstructed shade where as a center posted umbrella would not be possible.

What were the results of the project?

• Comfortable and aesthetically pleasing shade at the pool and seating area with the look and feel that the customer desired.
• With a temperature reduction on the cool deck of around 20 degrees Fahrenheit, no more beeline for the pool.
