Please describe the project specifications

Re-design and replace outdated and damaged exterior upholstery on a newly purchased 38-foot, 2004 Donzi Zx.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

Our customer wanted his Donzi upholstery restored to its former glory, so a color and theme change was in order. His specific request, “Make it either a head turner or a heart stopper!” (Funny, coming for a heart surgeon.)

What is unique or complex about the project?

While we were brainstorming with the customer, we remembered a new product we saw at the MFA conference in January. As soon as the samples came in we called the customer. Stam 1 has such an elegant hand; its smooth, matte finish was exactly what our customer had envisioned for the makeover. To accommodate the slightly thinner and stretchy Stam 1 we made some adjustments to our methods. We incorporated two new carbon fiber vinyls, the vibrant Stop Light Red and Quicksilver to add flash and flair to the owner’s new color specifications. He also gave us a bit of artistic freedom in redesigning the side panels. However, the most challenging piece was the sun-pad with the distinctive ‘Zx’ design.
What were the results of the project?

What were the results of the project?

Since we installed the Donzi Zx upholstery at the end of April, we have had several new customers remark specifically how stunning Nauti-Porps (the name of the boat) is with the new upholstery. And our client is delighted that Nauti-Porps is the heart stopper he wanted.
