What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

This saddle shaped entry canopy was donated to the Los Alamitos Medical Center by a former patient who was very impressed with his treatment received from the hospital. Without the use of a designer or architect, TensionStructures.com was given full reign to provide an elegant and unique entry canopy in a true design-build scenario. Flame-retardant and water-proof Serge Ferrari Precontraint TX30 PVC fabric was designated to covers the frame structure engineered for 110 MPH wind loads.

What is unique or complex about the project?

The main tensioned canopy is accompanied by two smaller saddle shaded structures that nest just below. The overlap allows water to shingle out to the canopy perimeter. To complete the installation of the frame structure in one-evening, Eide's team had to carefully maneuver a boom-lift within a confined area surrounded by concrete picnic benches and walkways.

What were the results of the project?

The management of Los Alamitos Medical Center were delighted with the quality of the tensioned entrance canopy, the professional service and efficiency received throughout the whole process.
