What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

As part of the Los Angeles conversion of a city district to a residential community, a half-acre park was opened to bring a bit of green space to the neighborhood. The Arts District Park was designed to include a playground, a mural wall, benches, tables, and a band-shell shade structure that covers an outdoor performance area.

What is unique or complex about the project?

The structure features seven tensioned membrane panels made with flame-retardant Sheerfill V PTFE coated fiberglass fabric.

What were the results of the project?

The eagerly anticipated neighborhood park with outdoor performance area was opened to the public for all to enjoy.
