Please describe the project specifications

This project is located in Legend Boulevard of Macau fisherman's Wharf. The canopy adopts membrane structure that effectively integrated steel, cable and membrane. Total projected area of this project is about 9800 square meters. It is 386.025 meters long and widest part is about 35.8 meters. The highest point of the steel structure is 26.44 meters. From north to south, it is divided into 10 fabric units from A1 to A10. The largest fabric unit is A8, with projected area about 1150 square meters.


What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The purpose of this project was a functionally aesthetic shade solution that provided better experiences for visitors to this commercial district, and to promote business development.


What is unique or complex about the project?

The structure system is composed of steel latticed shells supported by several steel columns, with different numbers of shuttle trusses in the middle. Cable meshes are formed on the steel latticed shells and covered with high transmittance PTFE fabric. While white PTFE fabric materials are covered on the shuttle trusses. On fabric units A3, A5 and A7, LED lamp bands are attached to white PTFE mesh fabrics, forming the canopy system, and then suspended under the steel latticed shells by a number of steel suspenders.
It is hard to build such a long and high project above different existing buildings and do not affect shops opening. So onsite management and cooperation are really important.


What were the results of the project?

This project gives comfort to the public around the commercial area that provides protection from sun and rain. It has played a great role in attracting tourists and has brought more commercial profit to the owners, so the owners were very satisfied with the project.
