Please describe the project specifications

A boat bumper and wave deflector with a seamless and invisible fixture system that becomes an integral part of the boat.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The customer primarily wanted a Bumper for 2 different tenders that protected the big boat from scuffs and scratches. He wanted the bumper system to look as one with the boats.
They also needed to be strong enough to act as a water deflector in choppy conditions.

What is unique or complex about the project?

We created a bolt on system using a waterproof composite base board. We epoxy glue laminated 2 layers of 6mm board together to make a removable base, Stainless steel bolts where added through to mount it to the boat's The molded board could then be removed, then foamed with a solid EVA foam and a thin layer of quick dry foam and covered. A great understanding of the fabric used "a stiff boat hooding" and how to manipulate it with heat was needed to get a wrinkle free finish. I also added piping around the top as a seal and visual finishing touch.

What were the results of the project?

A very grateful customer with nothing but praise for the design and finish. We have since made 2 more bumpers for the same customer and 2 more for the original boat builder with many more inquiries about the design and other applications.
