Please describe the project specifications

Peter was approached by a local downhill skier to fabricate a set of Aerodynamic fins to attach to his legs. This would use foam molded to the best shape.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

Peter was approached by a local downhill skier to fabricate a set of Aerodynamic fins to assist him in achieving the fastest downhill speed skiing results possible.

What is unique or complex about the project?

Whilst the product was not difficult per say, the difficulty lay in the fit and design of the product with many fittings taking place, which even involved our client bring in his skis and boots and assuming the crouch position to enable the foam to be molded to his particular body shape. These would then be taking away for testing and then returned for the shape to be refined.

What were the results of the project?

Our client competed in the World Cup races in France, Finland, Canada, Sweden and Andorra achieving 219.646 kph, a 6th place in the overall world cup ranking over 11 races, and a best position of 4th place at the world cup in Canada. Best of all he completed in good health with no major injuries.
