Please describe the project specifications

A modern twin sail cross over shade sail system that was in keeping with the clients outdoor theme while providing full and accurate shade throw over his outdoor seating area. The system was in a high wind zone and hence was designed to spec.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

Our client was in the final stages of his build and needed a solution for shading his outdoor area. He wanted something that was in keeping with the modern looks of the house while still providing an accurate shade throw.
The build was in a new sub division and hence was exposed to the high winds that Canterbury is known for. Hence the solution needed to stand up to winds in excess of 100km/h (62mph)

What is unique or complex about the project?

The project was made more complex by the client wanting a two sail cross over look while still maintaining a near 100% shade throw, we had to minimize the gap between the sails so that the bulk of the shade was unbroken under the sails.

We achieved this result by having a large height difference on the sails off the building, however this intern made the install difficult as the roof was high pitched. We modified our standard roof install equipment so that our installers were safe and able to finish the install.

What were the results of the project?

The resulting system met the clients needs exactly. The look he received was in keeping with the theme of his home and the shade throw was relatively unbroken.
The clients choice of colours complemented the system and tied the sails in with their outdoor area.
