Please describe the project specifications
Multiple ZipTrak screens around the clients Louvre system allow for the area to be used year round. The system is in keeping with the upmarket home and is finished with full pelmets and a removable doorway post.
What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?
Client had just moved into their new home with an existing outdoor living space that was covered with retractable louvers. They wanted to be able to extend their indoor outdoor flow year round by enclosing this space. They wanted the system to be in keeping with their up market home and look like it was part of the area, not an after thought.
The screens also had to be strong enough to withstand winds of up to 100km/h (62mph) as is common in Christchurch.
What is unique or complex about the project?
the screens had full pelmets in order to keep the slick look the client wanted for his outdoor area. This was made a little bit more complex due to the fact that the screens are of-set in height. The client wanted a sharp clean look when looking at his home so all the rollers are mounted inside the Louvre roof, but to accommodate this we had to off set the rollers to make them fit, therefore each screen has a custom made flashing and pelmet.
The final complexity came when the client wanted a doorway screen, again to keep with the clients brief of a slick finish, we installed a removable post that allows for a doorway when the screens are in use, but in high summer when the area is open the client can remove the post keeping a clear slick finish.
What were the results of the project?
The ZipTrak screens fit seamlessly into the clients outdoor space and suit the upmarket home. They are very happy with the result and are now able to use this outdoor space year round regardless of the weather. The addition of a couple of radiant heaters means they can heat the area up even on cold nights!
