Please describe the project specifications

American Express deployed a two story experiential activation at the Panorama Music Festival. The activation was tasked with immersing clientele with their new pay technology while giving attendees a view of multiple stages festival wide at the Randall’s Island Venue.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

This structure served as the hospitality space for American Express to cater to VIPs, influencers and GA guests alike. The client wanted the structure to serve as the framework for their boombox backdrop. The first level had water refill and charging stations for all attendees, while the second floor parlor was a full service Food and Beverage area.

What is unique or complex about the project?

Two-Story structures are always a challenging, and this double decker proved no different. 4,300 Sq. Ft. were required per level to meet the space needs of American Express. The ground level was enclosed with plastic hard wall panels and vinyl walls to help contain HVAC service. The roof of the mezzanine was treated with a non-stretch white Celtic Cloth fabric that was secured to the aluminum members with male and female Velcro. Similarly, the visible vinyl and hard wall panels that were visible on the lower level also required treatments with the same fabrics. To give a sustained lounge aesthetic, interior mezzanine columns were treated with fabric tension wrapped around a wooden frame.

The second level served as food and beverage lounge area with breathtaking views of the main stage at Panorama. Slideable clear vinyl walls were installed in each bay as a backup just in case inclement weather affected the festival. The vinyl roofing panels were treated with a stretch fabric liner following the curve of the arch. A vinyl faux wood flooring was used to finish the interiors of the structure.

What were the results of the project?

Guests to the American Express Parlor were treated with amazing views of the festival main stage. The client was ecstatic with the final product, and we are looking forward to being a part of their summer 2018 build.
