Please describe the project specifications

Rolling Loud Music Festival returned to Miami for its fourth iteration in May 2018. The client had a popup activation featuring world renowned tattoo artist Fame One providing complimentary tattoos for the festival’s VVIPs and performing artists.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The client requested a minimum of 200 square feet of space with panoramic glass-like views stretching 16 feet high so that artists and fans alike could see Fame One in his element. A blacked out flat roof ceiling was also required to achieve the client’s preferred aesthetic.

What is unique or complex about the project?

The Hush activation at The Rolling Loud Music Festival was a custom built pop up structure. Even though the footprint of the structure was only 16’x16’, a massive 18”x5” aluminum box beam profile was required achieve the flat roof aesthetic preferred by the client. Miami-Dade is notorious for its stringent engineering requirements for temporary structures, and engineering this small-up proved extremely challenging because of it. Gusset joint connections at the column to beam connection had to be reinforced to adhere to the overturning forces requirements and extended keystones were required for all splices. After the installation of the main structure, a simple yet effective fitout was deployed to achieve a “Glow Box” look and feel, filled with LED lighting strips and balloon clusters.

What were the results of the project?

The activation was successful, and artists were very satisfied by the unique perk. Our client is already discussing expanding the operation to more tiers of guests for the 2019 event.
