Please describe the project specifications

Every year I re-upholster a unique piece to donate to the Royal Family Kids of Northeast Iowa for their Gala to raise money to take young abused, abandoned and neglected children to camp for a week every summer. At camp they are showered with more love and necessities than can be imagined. They are taught that in God all things are possible. This group of people doing this are all volunteers, so I am pleased to do everything I can to help them meet their needs for the children.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The purpose of this project was to upholster something to raise as much money as possible at the live auction of the Gala. I don't have a client per say, but this year I posted pics of the project along with options for the fabric to go on this furniture, on my Facebook page and asked the public to make the choice for me. They did an awesome job of picking.

What is unique or complex about the project?

So here is a story for you. I was given these pieces by a CPA office in a nearby town saying I could do whatever I wanted with them. They bought a much larger building and were going to buy new furniture for it. As soon as they said that, I decided these pieces are going to look so nice they would want to buy them at the Gala for their new office.

What were the results of the project?

Well, I texted that CPA office pictures of the new furniture, and I was right, they bought them back at the Gala auction, paying an extremely large amount of money for them. It was a win win for all involved. My company got recognition, the RFK got a large donation and the CPA office has beautiful new furniture for their new office(even though they did have to buy these pieces twice, first time back in 1988.)
