Please describe the project specifications

A complete yacht enclosure including a Spray Dodger, Bimini with solar panels mounted, Joiner panel, a complete set of aft windows and matching mesh panels.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The client is going cruising from the tropics to some very cold areas so asked for an enclosure for all weather conditions. The rear curtains need to be interchangeable and adaptable for various combinations of zipping together clear and mesh panels. Air flow was an important request so we chose to terminate the curtains on the bottom life line.

What is unique or complex about the project?

We chose a combination fabric with a light internal color to give the cockpit an open feel. The Bimini frames were crowned on the sides for aesthetic and strength reasons. The owner insisted on 5 soft solar panels, so the crowning supports the weight much better. A central front to rear Bimini support bar was added for the extra weight of the panels. The front Dodger windows are removable in 3 panels for extra air flow in the tropics. Each window and mesh panel in the aft enclosure, have matching zips to allow a combination of fixing scenarios.

What were the results of the project?

The extra room/space created made for a very user friendly area for cruising, entertaining and dining. The couple were amazed with the ease of the alternating uses of the rear enclosure curtains. They are very happy campers.
