Please describe the project specifications

We designed, engineered, fabricated and installed a fabric cladding screening system made up of fabric mesh and aluminum extrusions for the parking garage of Miami luxury apartment building, Midtown Yard 8

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

Covering approximately 35,000 square feet, the facade provides an attractive screening system over the quintessential ugly parking garage, eliminated the need for an expensive mechanical venting system to maintain an open garage per code.

What is unique or complex about the project?

The architect originally designed an expensive painted perforated metal façade screen that was way over budget. We came on board and provided the same look, using a fabric cladding screen with custom mesh colors. We worked directly with the mesh manufacture to create these custom colors to match the architect’s design.

What were the results of the project?

We saved the owner $1.3 million over the cost of painted perforated metal, making it the ideal value-engineering facade solution. Our fabric system ended up being much less than 50% of the cost of a perforated metal façade because we could eliminate all the originally designed, required structural supports.
