Please describe the project specifications

CL Yachts is a high end marine manufacturer. For the 2019 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, they wanted to have a featured stand that caught the eye of attendees and drove traffic to their in-water exhibit.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The client asked us to develop a concept to cover their 800 sq.ft. dock space and The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Because their footprint was on a floating dock in the marina, they required a structure that was lightweight, but that could still support some of the unique branding elements they wanted to employ.

What is unique or complex about the project?

CL Yachts tasked us with design and installing a structure fitting to the luxury nature of their brand. To accomplish this, we based our solution on using one of our lightweight structure profiles with a curved frame. A custom connection mechanism was designed to allow the framing of the structure to integrate directly into the floating dock’s support system. This connection allowed for the resistance required for uplift and overturning forces, while allowing the structure to move as one with dock in the marina’s currents. The 20’x40’ structure was cladded with white vinyl roofing panels and sliding clear vinyl walls. The clear walls were primarily put in place as a contingency of it rained, as well as to allow the client to have some security in the space overnight during the multi-day event.

Angled aluminum treatments were applied to the roofline and columns of the structure, and branded with graphics that highlighted the logo and primary and secondary colors of the brand. The parapet was extended from our standard kit so that it could be visible to show attendees throughout the Marina. Custom adjustable shade awnings were also installed to help minimize direct sunlight from getting into the structure.

What were the results of the project?

The client was extremely happy with the end product and opted to make the structure a part of their traveling kit for multiple boat shows a year. We look forward to continue working with them in the future.
