Please describe the project specifications

For this project, we used fifteen (15) manually operated retractable screens with large 30mil clear vinyl "windows" with as small a border as possible using Ferrari Precontraint 502 Proof to cover all 15 openings of the pavilion. The retractable screens also included an optional cassette cover to protect the screens when not in use. The cassette cover and vertical side non-corroding aluminum extrusions were powder coated in white as per request.

The pavilion has no electricity as it is located on hotel property but a fair distance away from the hotel. The cost to bring electricity to the pavilion was prohibitive so the client decided to order and use manually operated versus motorized retractable screens.

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

The General Manager wanted to "enclose" an existing pavilion at the Cambridge Beaches Hotel in gorgeous Sandy's Bermuda. The purpose of the retractable screens with clear vinyl "windows" was to protect the inside of the pavilion from rain, sun, wind, and mosquitos. The pavilion has outstanding views of the ocean and they didn't want to lose the view. To meet their request, our company recommended retractable screens with large clear vinyl "windows".

What is unique or complex about the project?

Wrinkling or sticking of retractable screens is typically a problem in high wind areas. Therefore, our company used retractable screens that can be adjusted to withstand the variables that typically cause wrinkling or sticking screens. Designed to last a lifetime, our retractable shade screens utilize a proprietary two-part adjustable track system. The patented system tracks can be adjusted easily with a Phillips head screwdriver ensuring they fit perfectly at installation and remain serviceable throughout the life of the pavilion.

What were the results of the project?

The General Manager and several employees were very happy with the outcome of the project. The GM called recently to request a quote for another hotel in Bermuda that they manage.
