Please describe the project specifications

The total construction area of Huijia School Hockey Arena is 5,000 sqm. It includes a hockey dome and a club house attached to the dome. The club house has adopted current popular container concept. The dome uses an advanced real ice field to create the best sports experience.

Besides training and competition, the arena has the function of reception, office and storage and can be widely used in training, competition of hockey, figure skating, speed skating and leisure curling etc. With an auditorium, it can accommodate thousands of people to watch the game.

As the first school in China to have an international standard hockey arena, Huijia School aims to improve the youth ice sports skills, train the ice and snow sports talents for China’s 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.


What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

Build a multi-functional international standard ice and snow sports venue that can be used for training, reception and office.


What is unique or complex about the project?

1. The dome adopts transparent film to make a snow-flake pattern on the top to allow the natural light into the dome during daytime and at the same time create a fantasy effect at night.
2. Integrated with various indexes of AST professional ice rink, Our company’ Environment Control Technology can monitor and adjust temperature and humidity inside the dome automatically to create the most suitable internal environment for the users.
3. Through efficient filtration technology, PM2.5 can be effectively filtered. Even when the outdoor PM2.5 reading is as high as six or seven hundred, the PM2.5 reading in the dome can still be maintained below 25.
4. The dome and the container-structure club house are connected in multiple layers to realize different functions of the club house.
5. Through an optimized design of air duct layout and dehumidifier equipment, the dome can easily achieve the goal of anti-fog and temperature and humidity control.


What were the results of the project?

Huijia School Hockey Arena is the largest and most professional ice event venue in Beijing. The operation of the venue can be efficiently handled through MetaSpace’ Intelligent Management System. Energy consumption is about 40% lower than that of traditional venues.
