Please describe the project specifications

The project combines the air-supported structure with the mushroom culture technology, and creatively introduces a new application of air dome for mushroom farm. The dome covers an area of 11,050 square meters with a height of 20 meters.

Through the control system, the temperature, humidity, illumination and ventilation can be monitored and adjusted in the process of mushroom cultivating, so that the environment for the mushroom cultivation is more clean and the oxygen supply is more abundant which fully conforms to the biological requirement of the growth of edible mushroom, thus making the cultivation of mushroom safer with better quality and higher production and at the same time reduces the cost by more than 60%.


What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

Based on the needs for mushroom cultivation, the temperature and humidity in the farm dome are precisely controlled, so production of the mushroom is improved. This new technology has been promoted among local farmers to help them generate more incomes.


What is unique or complex about the project?

1. Setting up multiple sensors to achieve precise control of temperature and humidity in sub-area.
2. The farm dome is equipped with an air purification system, which can effectively sterilize, filter the ultraviolet negative ions, the chlorine gas generated in the growth of the mushroom and other pollution sources, so the mushroom grows more rapidly.
3. The mechanical unit of the dome is equipped with a heat recovery device. In winter, the discharged hot air can be preheated by the heat recovery device to help increasing the fresh air temperature so the operating energy consumption can be reduced by 30% saving $80,000 yearly.
4. The intelligent control system can adjust the air ventilation in different areas at different times based on the requirement of mushroom growth.
5. The composite thermal insulation system not only ensures the thermal insulation performance but also avoids the moisture absorption of the thermal insulation system, ensuring the cleanliness of the plant.


What were the results of the project?

In the mushroom farm dome with constant temperature all year round, the use efficiency per unit area is increased. With the automatic control in temperature, humidity, air-circulation and lighting, the dome has provided the environment most suitable for mushroom growth with low operation cost. It has achieved year-round production, shorter planting cycle, higher output and better control of quality and safety.
