Please describe the project specifications

"We were invited to provide shade options over an extensive concreted walking /wheel chair friendly area that was part of a bowling club but now functions as a drop in centre for the Elderly of Timaru.
We were to avoid introducing hazards to the area.
We were to provide after sales service ."


What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

To provide shade for the seating, tables and BBQ area.


What is unique or complex about the project?

"Unique to this site were the distances between fixing points(15 m in some cases).
Provide good sail dynamics.
Involve the Timaru District Council for Consent purposes as these sails individually exceeded 50 Sq m .
Be senstive to the plantings as this Centre is based in the Timaru Botanic Gardens."


What were the results of the project?

"In the words of the Centre Fund raising Manager "" the shade sails have met and exceeded our expectations"".
In the height of Summer the Centre have people outside enjoying the facilities and there is now the opportunity to hire the venue out to assist in off-setting operational costs.
Our business now have the contract to take down the sails for Winter and store off site , maintain where required and re install in time for Summer."
