Please describe the project specifications

Pilot and Co-Pilot seating that included shearling face seating. A 2 person divan, side wall panels with Ultra Suede and Arm Rails, foam upgrades, and a handsome carpet cut and bound into 22 pattern matched sections. All materials used meet FAA guidelines and provide a durable and the dynamic new look for the interior of this classic aircraft which will last for years to come. Additionally the value of the aircraft will increase for the owner/partners of the aircraft, who frequently fly to International destinations with business associates and their families.

Complete removal and upgrade for the original interior that looked time-worn and outdated since its original install in 1984 - the 36 year old interior needed a fresh new durable “Face-Lift”. As these jet-setters love to fly! This We love a complete makeover challenge included a drastic color change, moving parts and swivel seats, Each seat required not just ‘upholstering a seat and a back’. Each passenger seat consisted of many inner working pieces that had to be meticulously removed, cleaned and often times repaired, taking into consideration the aircrafts weight and the atmospheric pressure. Then once the pieces were perfectly aligned this would make the seat easily ejectable, reclinable, swivel, an air pump for seat/back firmness. Seating includes movable armrests and a drawer for a life vest, Each Seat Unit is secured via velcro above a lined upholstered drawer with a leather drawer face. Each seat base had a paper thin fragile plastic cover that hasincluded 4 snaps fused into the plastic. This piece had to be upholstered and snapped into place. We had to create metal “band-aids” and sand them down just enough to hold the snap but not be noticeable once upholstered. (You will never see it in the pictures) Every metal part of the seat frame had to be sanded down and painted to match the more modern look. The seat coverings in some places had 8 layers of leather and padding and needed to go around a complex curve and have double top-stitching. We then had to use aviation approved adhesive to glue everything back together. The seatbelts were re-webbed, before finally closing up the seats components in order for them to be installed.

What is unique or complex about the project?

This project required sourcing various combinations of materials that meet or exceed FAA guidelines for aircraft. All of the individual components selected for production provided a fluid, durable and timeless ‘Look” for this aircraft. The customer was thrilled with the final outcome which was rather difficult as a balance had to be maintained to provide a fresh appearance to a classic aircraft interior.

There was an additional challenge to provide materials that would appeal to 3 partners with individual taste and a firm budget. All Aviation projects Include sourcing aviation materials and a trail of paperwork that must meet FAA approval and be maintained by our facility as well as copies provided to the aircraft owners for their records.
