Please describe the project specifications

The design intent of this layered, three sail installation, was to create depth and tell a story about the Irvine sky. Imagery of clouds that form at different elevations match the varying heights of the sails: wispy cirrus clouds are depicted on the highest sail, altostratus at the midlevel sail and puffy stratocumulus on the lowest sail. Three bird species who, in nature, fly at different heights continue this theme of elevation.

What is unique or complex about the project?

We thought this was so creative and educational using the different height sails to create the illusion of clouds that naturally occur at different heights in the sky. Adding images of the native-to-the area birds to these sails, flying at natural-to-their-species altitudes, tell a great story.
