Please describe the project specifications

"Our customer requested us to supply and install retractable awnings on two houses within a new subdivision boutique village complex.
The awnings were to be fitted over patio/decks that were essentially a mirror image in arrangement located opposite and in site of each other."

What was the purpose of this project? What did the client request?

Our customer wished to have retractable awnings that were robust, easy to use and complemented the contemporary look of the dwellings they were to be fitted too and, being opposite and in site of each other, of the same type.

What is unique or complex about the project?

"As the buildings had very narrow eaves and little height at the wall above the opening doors, a method of fixing at the gutter height had to be designed that would ensure a strong mounting for the awnings without compromising the dwelling structure and detracting from the fascia look.
Special roof truss brackets were designed in laser cut aluminium and powder coated to match the fascia colour. Roofers were engaged to lift the longrun roofing to gain access, the fascia board milled through and each bracket through bolted in place to a roof truss. The roofing was re-fixed once all brackets were correctly aligned and secured. All wiring was run through the ceiling cavity at the same time.
As this mounting method left the awning completely exposed to the weather, rather than being under the protection of a soffit, a fully enclosed cassette option was chosen to provide full protection to the motorised awnings when closed even in the most inclement of weather."

What were the results of the project?

The customer was very pleased with the final result….
